A Friendship Page

I thank my God every time I remember you.
-Philippians 1:3

If you understand Chinese, this is the page for you. =)

A friendship page for all the friends i love dearly.

http://www.mtv139.com/mp3/love_qing/friend.htm

We share our joys and sorrows with one another, we laugh and cry together.
At times, we may have conflicts with one another, but you know, I still care for you.
Words just simply cannot describe how i feel towards each one of you.

May God bless our friendship forever.

Advertising...

I thank my God every time I remember you.
-Philippians 1:3

"Advertising is an instrument in the hands of the people that use it.

If evil men use advertising for base purposes, then evil can result.

If honest men use advertising to sell an honest product with honest enthusiasm, then positive good for our kind of capitalistic society can result."

Description of a Virtous Woman (comments)

I thank my God every time I remember you.
-Philippians 1:3

Every one ought to desire this honour that cometh from God; and according to this standard we all ought to regulate our judgments. This description of my previous post let all women daily study, who desire to be truly beloved and respected, useful and honourable.

This passage is to be applied to individuals, but may it not also be applied to the church of God, which is described as a virtuous spouse? God by His grace has formed from among sinful men a church of true believers, to possess all the excellences here described.

Description of a Virtous Woman

I thank my God every time I remember you.
-Philippians 1:3
Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,
so that he shall have no need of spoil.

She will do him good
and not evil all the days of her life.

She seeketh wool, and flax,
and worketh willingly with her hands.

She is like the merchants' ships;
she bringeth her food from afar.

She riseth also while it is yet night,
and giveth meat to her household,
and a portion to her maidens.

She considereth a field, and buyeth it:
with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

She girdeth her loins with strength,
and strengtheneth her arms.

She perceiveth that her merchandise is good:
her candle goeth not out by night.

She layeth her hands to the spindle,
and her hands hold the distaff.

She stretcheth out her hand to the poor;
yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

She is not afraid of the snow for her household:
for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

She maketh herself coverings of tapestry;
her clothing is silk and purple.

Her husband is known in the gates,
when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

She maketh fine linen, and selleth it;
and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

Strength and honour are her clothing;
and she shall rejoice in time to come.

She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

She looketh well to the ways of her household,
and eateth not the bread of idleness.

Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praiseth her.

"Many daughters have done virtuously,
but thou excellest them all. "

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Give her of the fruit of her hands;
and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Proverbs 31:10-31 (King James Version)

My dream is to be a woman like this, to be a girl after God's own heart! =)

stand for something or be neutral??

I thank my God every time I remember you.
-Philippians 1:3

If you stand for something, you'll have some people for you and some people against you.
If you don't stand for anything, you'll have nobody for you and nobody against you.

I Trust in You

I thank my God every time I remember you.
-Philippians 1:3

My head is high, GOD, held high;
I'm looking to you, GOD;
No hangdog skulking for me.

I've thrown in my lot with you;
You won't embarrass me, will you?
Or let my enemies get the best of me?
Don't embarrass any of us
Who went out on a limb for you.
It's the traitors who should be humiliated.

Show me how you work, GOD;
School me in your ways.
Take me by the hand;
Lead me down the path of truth.
You are my Savior, aren't you?
Mark the milestones of your mercy and love, GOD;
Rebuild the ancient landmarks!

Forget that I sowed wild oats;
Mark me with your sign of love.
Plan only the best for me, GOD!

Anguish

I thank my God every time I remember you.
-Philippians 1:3

Pain knocked upon my door and said
That she had come to stay

And though I would not welcome her
But bade her go away,
She entered in,
Like my own shade.

She followed after me,
And from her stabbing, stinging sword
No moment was I free.

And then one day another knocked
Most gently on my door

I cried, “No, pain is living here,
There is no room for more.”

And then I heard His tender voice,
“Tis I, be not afraid.”

And from the day He entered in,
The difference is made!
As you feel the stinging thorns of your pain, take comfort in God’s grace and abundant love. Beyond this, let us leave a message here. For this, it is different for us to find in scripture or in history, a strong-willed individual whom God used greatly until He allowed him to be deeply hurt.
Found this poem as i tried to clear up the mess on my writing table. Think i copied it from an old uncle in Chinatown some time ago. He's a wonderful poet and writer i should say, he used a pseudo name when he writes: Andre W. Keye, can't recall his real chinese name... =P
It was some time ago, I went to Chinatown for my Feature Writing Module assignment, then I happened to walk in a "Museum". Talked to the uncle, it seems that he has high qualifications, and status in the society (if i'm not wrong). His Dad, the late mr Yip Cheong-Fun, won endless awards for his photography.
I was very much amazed by him. He told me the reason he uses a pseudo name is because the Westerners won't read his books if they're known to be written by a Chinese writer (they assume that Chinese can't write good English). I guess this is the society that forms the world, into what it is today. Prejudice.
older generation of Singaporeans like to say Singaporeans don't like to read. that's what the uncle said: SIngaporens dont read. Mr Andrew Ang (my lecturer) said the same thing too. erm... quite true, but still, we cannot generalize. there are SIngaporeans who love to read too. Different people have different personalities.
anyway... just few comments. i'll leave as it is. the debate is always on. man loves debates i think. =P

How's Your Form?

I thank my God every time I remember you.
-Philippians 1:3

God said, I will form man in my image.
The world says, We must conform man to our image.
The Devil says, I will deform man by sin.
Education says, I will inform man by knowledge.
Society says, We will reform man by culture.
Christ Jesus says, I will transform man by love.

just another sweet, simple post =)

A Trick

I thank my God every time I remember you.
-Philippians 1:3

A young man, a student in one of our universities, was one day taking a walk with a professor, who was commonly called the students' friend, from his kindness to those who waited on his instructions.

As they went along, they saw lying in the path a pair of old shoes, which they supposed to belong to a poor man who was employed in a field close by, and who had nearly finished his day's work.

The student turned to the professor, saying: "Let us play the man a trick: we will hide his shoes, and conceal ourselves behind those bushes, and wait to see his perplexity when he cannot find them."

"My young friend," answered the professor, "we should never amuse ourselves at the expense of the poor. But you are rich, and may give yourself a much greater pleasure by means of the poor man. Put a coin into each shoe, and then we will hide ourselves and watch how the discovery affects him."

The student did so, and they both placed themselves behind the bushes close by.

The poor man soon finished his work, and came across the field to the path where he had left his coat and shoes. While putting on his coat he slipped his foot into one of his shoes; but feeling something hard, he stooped down to feel what it was, and found the coin.

Astonishment and wonder were seen upon his countenance. He gazed upon the coin, turned it round, and looked at it again and again. He then looked around him on all sides, but no person was to be seen. He now put the money into his pocket, and proceeded to put on the other shoe; but his surprise was doubled on finding the other coin.

His feelings overcame him; he fell upon his knees, looked up to heaven and uttered aloud a fervent thanksgiving, in which he spoke of his wife, sick and helpless, and his children without bread, whom the timely bounty, from some unknown hand, would save from perishing.

The student stood there deeply affected, and his eyes filled with tears. "Now," said the professor, "are you not much better pleased than if you had played your intended trick?"

The youth replied, "You have taught me a lesson which I will never forget. I feel now the truth of those words, which I never understood before: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

- Author Unknown

Acts 20:35 "I have shown you in every way, by labouring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."'

Proverbs 28:27 He who gives to the poor will not lack, But he who hides his eyes will have many curses.

I've been a treasurer for Singapore Polytechnic Campus Crusade for Christ for the past one year (2005/06). Will miss this role as a servant of God soon. Most of the time, I'll be cracking my brains thinking of how to encourage the crusaders to pledge and give. God always works in His miraculous ways. He didnt need me to come out with something to amuse people, or attract people, to lead them to give. However, I did my best to serve in this area. sorry guys... if i sounded like some "loan sharks"... =P I merely wanted to hold you accountable to what you promised God.

Anyway, thanks for taking the faith to pledge. =)

Remember: God doesnt want your money, time, or any of your possessions, He wants your heart. It's more blessed to give than to receive. God loves you.
